The recommended thing to do is to change currency in the banks or currency exchange business.
The most accepted credit card in Peru is Visa, although MasterCard and American Express and widely accepted also.

Visas are not required for tourists entering Peru, except very few rare cases.
You may legally stay in the country for 30 to 90 days.
