When to go and other info

June and August are the most visited months since it's the dry season in the sierra and its summer in the northern part of the country; never the less, any time of the year is ideal to visit Peru, since depending the season, there are mini climate variations that do not affect your stay in the country.

The warmest months are from December to March in which you can enjoy the beautiful costal beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Any of the cities along this side of the coast can be visited any time a year.

Now, many of the important festivities are celebrated during the rainy season (January to June). The jungle has a tropical weather all year long but its from December to April that the rain pours down heavily , but this does not seam to bother any tourists since the rain only seams to lasts a couple of hours during each day.

Altitude sickness, a yellow fever vaccination is essential if you plan to visit the eastern slopes of the Andes or the Amazonian Basin.

The official currency in Peru is el nuevo sol, the dollar and the Euro are openly accepted. These can be exchanged to nuevo sol at the local banks, hotels, currency exchange business and Peru's traditional informal street exchange services, which includes people exchanging the money on the street corners.
