Detailed Itinerary


DAY 1

Lima
- Arrival in Lima airport where you will be welcomed by an English speaking guide. Transfer to the selected hotel
- In the afternoon you will explore the city on a sightseeing tour through the old and the new Lima. The Plaza de Armas with the beautiful buildings of the government Palace, the town hall, the Palace of the archbishop and the cathedral is still the most important place in town. The tour will continue to the San Francisco convent that was renovated after several earthquakes, the Santo Domingo convent and to the most popular place Plaza San Martín. After that you will visit the most traditional residential areas in the capital: The Olive Grove of San Isidro, Mifaflores and Larco Mar, distinctive tourist centre of contemporary Lima.
- Return to the hotel.

DAY 2 LIMA PARACAS
Today you will travel from Lima to Paracas in a luxurious bus (without guide). In the afternoon arrive in Paracas and you will get the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 3  PARACAS NASCA
- After breakfast, you will have a boat excursion to the Ballestas Islands, where many different animal species may be observed. Also you will have the chance to see the famous three-pronged Candelabro (Candelabrum), carved into the sand with a similar technique to the Nazca Lines.
- In the afternoon transfer from Paracas to Nazca in a luxurious bus (without guide).

DAY 4  NASCA LIMA
- After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to fly over the mysterious Nazca lines and see the enormous figures in the sand - the spider, the monkey, the bird among others.
- In the afternoon drive back to Lima in a luxurious bus (without guide).
- Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 5  AREQUIPA CITY TOUR
- Arrival in Arequipa airport where you will be welcomed by an English speaking guide.
- Transfer to the selected hotel
- In the afternoon we start our city tour in the historical center, visiting the Santa Catalina Convent, the Plaza de Armas, the Jesuit Church of La Compañia and its beautifully-painted Chapel, the Church of San Francisco, the San Lazaro District, Selva Alegre and the typical Districts of Cayma and Yanahuara for a magnificent view of the Misti Volcano.
- Return to the hotel.
Overnight in Arequipa
 
DAY 6   COLCA EXCURSION
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will start your trip to the Colca Canyon, taking the Yura’s highway boarding the snow-capped mountain Chachani towards Pampa Cañahuas (Reserve of White Wash and Salt Mines) habitat of vicuñas. Also you will see alpacas and the flora of the area.
- After lunch (not included), we arrive to Chivay Town and you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 7   CROSS OF THE CONDOR
Breakfast at the hotel.
Today early at morning you will visit the Cross of the Condor, where you will be able to observe one of the deepest Canyons of the world and where we can appreciate the impressive and majestic flight of the Condors.
After the tour you would be transferred directly from Colca to Puno in a semi private transfer (maximum 10 pax) where you would do different stops during the way to enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape!
- Arrive in Puno, welcome and transfer to your selected hotel.

DAY 8   FULL DAY IN TITICACA LAKE
Breakfast at the hotel.
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Puno in the morning, to take a two-hour motor boat excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to the unique Floating "Islands" of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own "islands" by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called "Totora". Their homes and boats are also made from this material.
Then proceed to Taquile islands, where its inhabitants are dedicated to agriculture and have developed an original form of "communal tourism", in which visitors share their food, homes, customs and traditions.
Return to the hotel.
Overnight in Puno
 
DAY 9  TOURISTIC BUS FROM PUNO TO CUSCO
Breakfast at the hotel.
Today you take the First-class Bus from Cuzco to Puno. Lunch is included and the bus stops at various points of geographical and cultural interest along the way.
Pukara: This is the most important and oldest ceremonial site this side of Tiahuanaco La Raya: The highest pass on the route between Cusco and Puno, La Raya is 4335 meters above sea level.
Raqchi: (or the temple of the God Wiracocha), this Inca temple is monumental
Andahuaylillas: Referred to as the Andean Sistine Chapel.
You will finish your fantastic journey that same evening in Cusco, where we will meet you at the bus station and take you to your hotel.

DAY 10  CUSCO CITY TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning at leisure.
- In the afternoon the half-day city tour begins. You will be shown the exact centre of the Inca empire, the Plaza de Armas. There one can find the cathedral built on the ruins of the Inca Palace. The cathedral borders on other churches on both sides. Next stop will be the old town with its magnificent renovated colonial buildings, that are being used as hotels for example. You will also visit Sacsayhuaman, a ruin located approx. 3 km above Cuzco. Sacsayhuaman also offers a fabulous view of the city. After that you will then shortly stop in Tampu Machay, the bath of the Inca, Kenko, the giant rock whose niches and gaps were carved in a strange way, and Puca Pucara, the ruin of a small fort.
- Return to Cuzco where you can relax, enjoy the local food and exciting nightlife.

DAY 11  SACRED VALLEY EXCURSION
Breakfast at the hotel.
- After breakfast, you will discover the Sacred Valley of the Incas; there, you will have the opportunity to purchase local handcrafts at the special and traditional Pisac Indian market. This market exhibits and sells wide variety of fine crafts of various kind: Woven goods, sweaters, Alpaca rugs, tapestry, sculpture, jewellery, etc.
On the way to Ollantaytambo, you will have free time to have lunch in a typical restaurant. Ollantaytambo is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the Americas, complete with canals unchanged since Inca times; a walk by the narrow streets will make you recall its ancient heritage.
- Return to Cuzco
Overnight in Cusco
 
DAY 12  FULL DAY IN MACHU PICCHU
Breakfast at the hotel.
Am.  Pick up from your hotel and transfer by bus to the train station where the tour starts in your Touristic train that climbs the mountain in zigzag slopes and then rattles down into the fertile plain of the Urubamba valley, passes Ollantaytambo and goes on to Aguas Calientes.
 
From here small busses drive up the steep mountain to the ruin town Machu Picchu called the Lost City of the Incas. You will be amazed of how the Incas were able to build this city on a mist-shrouded mountaintop.
Upon your arrival to the citadel you will enjoy a 3 hours excursion in Machu Picchu.
In the afternoon, return  to Cuzco.

DAY 13   FROM CUSCO TO THE JUNGLE
- Buffet breakfast. 
- At opportune time you will be transfer to the airport to take your flight to Puerto Maldonado.
FLIGHT CUZCO TO PUERTO MALDONADO
 Reception at Padre Almirez International airport. Here your professional guide will await you. He will accompany you throughout your stay. From there we will go to our office to obtain the official waterway permits (you can also guard luggage you won’t need during your stay). Meanwhile you can visit the town’s main square and also take some photos of the beautiful scenery overlooking the confluence of the rivers Madre de Dios and Tambopata from Grau square. Embarkation will be at Capitania port, the destination being our lodge. We will navigate approximately 40 minutes on the Madre de Dios River in a typical Amazonian boat.

Arrival at the Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge. Here we will have a welcome cocktail. Afterwards you will be handed over the keys to your bungalow and we will have lunch. The kitchen of our Lodge stands out for the beautiful presentation and the exquisite tastes of the dishes prepared by our French chef. After that you will have some free time to get comfortable in your bungalow, or take a refreshing dip in our pool.
3:30pm: It gets time to have some first contact with the jungle. On this trek you will see a large variety of tropical trees, medicinal plants, insects, butterflies and other animals. Upon return we will make a small stop at a lookout. Here you can observe toucans, macaws and other species of birds upon your return for sunset. (Duration: between 2,5 and 3 hours). Returning to the lodge you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or have an exotic cocktail in our terrace- bar. You could also watch the sunset in the relaxing, tranquility of palm and mango trees at our port.
7pm: Before dinner we will go on a nightly boat trip, a little safari trying to spot the white caiman (caiman crocodiles) that lives in the river banks.

8pm: After the delicious dinner, those who wish can have some Smalltalk in our reclining seats or have some fun and make friends with other travelers in the bar. Another option is to take a bath in the pool (with bar) under the shining Amazon sky and marvel at the Cross of the South.
Overnight at Corto Maltes Lodge ***

DAY 14   CORTO MALTES
- 8am: Breakfast and free time to have a bath in the pool or maybe buy some exclusive Amazon handicrafts and jewelry in our shop.
- 10am: We will follow the course of the river for approximately 1,5 hours in order to visit a native community. Occasionally we can see monkeys, river turtles, caimans and various birds in the dense vegetation of the riverbanks. We will also see some medicinal plants. (Sangre de Grado, Oje, Capirona)
The “Project for the Rescue of Cultural Values” supports the local native community “Palma Real”. It is the biggest with approximately 200 families of the Ese’eja tribe. This project, located at Gamitada island works together with two families that will introduce us to the cultural values of their ancestors, their language, their customs, their garments and their dances. In an era where globalization rapidly changes traditional societies this is a great opportunity to have direct contact with this tribe of ancient warriors and hunters. As well as a chance to sup port them economically with the purchase of some of their handmade products

- 1pm: Circumnavigating the Gamatida Island we can occasionally see animals escaping the human presence. Afterwards we will visit a chakra (local term for farm). We will get to know a variety of tropical fruits and other local products (Cocoa, bananas, café, and cocona). Here we will also have lunch consisting of a typical Amazon dish. The chacarero(farmer) will also let us taste some of the fruits that will later be taken to the city of Puerto Maldonado for consumption. Upon return to the lodge you will surely enjoy a bath in our swimming pool; maybe with a cocktail that might also serve as an aperitif for dinner.
- 8pm: Dinner is served. After dinner you can retire to our bar to have some tropical cocktails, relax chit-chatting in our reclining seats at the central terrace or have a bath in the pool underneath the shining Amazon sky.
Overnight at Corto Maltes Lodge ***

DAY 15   CORTO MALTES
- 8am: Breakfast and free time to have a bath in the pool or maybe buy some exclusive Amazon handicrafts and jewelry in our shop.

DAY 16  TRANSFER OUT
- After breakfast its time to say goodbye to the setting and staff of Corto Maltes Amazonia. Your guide will accompany you on your way back to the city. We will pass by our office again to recollect the baggage left. Following that we will visit the local market to show you agricultural products of the region; especially fruits of the Amazon. Afterwards our personnel will accompany you to the airport to take your flight to Lima.
