Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Lima

Welcome at Lima airport by our representative who will then transfer you in a private vehicle to your selected hotel in Lima. You will have the rest of the day to enjoy at your own leisure.

Day 2Lima City and Gastronomic Tour

In the morning, we will introduce you to the history of Peruvian gastronomy. Our culinary adventure begins at a typical “Peruvian Market”. There, you will be able to appreciate a wide variety of Peruvian product and enjoy and taste exotic fruits. Be amazed by the huge variety of fish and seafood our ocean, considered one of the richest in the World, has to offer.

We will also visit an exclusive restaurant “Cala”, situated on the beautiful sea front, where you will have the opportunity to prepare your own “Pisco Sour” and the famous “Ceviche” (Vegetarian dishes available). Later you will enjoy a delicious lunch, consisting of the most symbolic dishes of Peruvian cuisine.

In the afternoon, you will begin your city tour of Lima, allowing you the opportunity to explore the old and the new Lima on a sightseeing journey. The city tour starts with a visit to the historic Plaza de Armas, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In the center of the Plaza is an elaborate bronze fountain dating from 1560. Also located in the Plaza is the Cathedral, one of the most impressive in all of South America, and next to it is the Archbishop’s Palace.

Then you will visit the 17th-century Monastery of San Francisco, famous for its Sevilian tile work, paneled ceiling, and Spanish catacombs in the basement. You will also visit the most traditional residential areas in Lima: the Olive Grove of the San Isidro district, the Miraflores neighborhood, and Larcomar Shopping Center, all distinctive tourist centers of contemporary Lima.

After the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 3Flight Lima to Cusco

In the morning, you will be transferred to Lima airport to take your flight to Cusco.

Upon your arrival to Cusco city, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your selected hotel.

You will have the rest of the day to relax and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 4Cusco City Tour and Surrounding Ruins

In the afternoon, one of our local guides will take you on a half day tour of the city of Cusco. You will be shown the exact center of the Inca Empire, the Plaza de Armas. There one can find the Cathedral built on the ruins of the Inca Palace. Next stop will be the old town with its magnificent renovated colonial buildings. Also in Cusco, we will visit Qorikancha, the Main Temple of the Incas, where Sun God is worshiped.

After, we will visit Sacsayhuaman, a ruins site located approximately 3 kilometers from Cusco. Sacsayhuaman also offers a fabulous view of the entire city. After that, the tour will stop shortly in Tambomachay, the bath of the Inca; Kenko, the giant rock whose niches and gaps were carved in an eccentric way; and Puca Pucara, the ruins of a fort.

Return to Cusco where you can relax, enjoy the local food and exciting nightlife.

Day 5Sacred Valley Tour

After your breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco by our representative. You will be taken along a road that winds over the mountains north of Cusco. On the way you will stop at a point known as El Mirador, from where we will be able to see the whole of the Sacred Valley and listen to the history of the Incas.

Later in the day, you will go towards Pisac, where we will visit the Pisac Archaeological Park. Here there are many different buildings, plazas, temples, pools and other structures, all built between the 10th and 11th centuries AD. After we will visit a peculiar market in Pisac. Here, you will have the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of fine crafts of various kinds, for example, ponchos, blankets, vases, hats and much more. You will have free time to walk around and do some shopping. Afterwards you will be taken to have lunch in a nice local restaurant to enjoy some great Andean food.

After lunch you will continue the tour and be driven along the Urubamba River towards the town of Ollantaytambo. Here you will visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo, an important Inca construction built during the Inca’s most powerful times.

After the tour you will take the Expedition train to Aguas Calientes (Optional upgrade: Vistadome or Hiram Bingham train).

On arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel.

Day 6 Machu Picchu Tour

After breakfast, you will take one of the buses up the steep mountain to the famous town of Machu Picchu, also known as, the Lost City of the Incas.

You will be taken on an official tour of Machu Picchu to see the most important parts of the Inca city. (Optional: hike up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. This will allow you to have more time in Machu Picchu).

Machu Picchu is a magical, mysterious place that for nearly a century has intrigued archaeologists and visitors alike. Perched atop a steep, emerald green peak 8,000 feet high in the Andes in southern Peru, it is reachable only by a long road that zigzags up the slope from the roaring Urubamba river, or alternatively, by hiking for days along the challenging Inca Trail. Visitors to Machu Picchu will see well-preserved ruins hidden among the majestic Andes: palaces, baths, temples, tombs, sundials and farming terraces, along with llamas that roam among hundreds of gray granite houses.

Lunch is included in Aguas Calientes (Optional upgrade: lunch in the luxury Belmond Sanctuary Lodge located just outside of Machu Picchu).

In the late afternoon, you will return to Cusco on the Expedition train. On arrival to Cusco, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel.

Day 73 Day Amazon Tour – Iquitos - Amazon River – Paiche farm – Yagua Indian Tribe

In the morning you will be transferred to Cusco airport to take your flight to Iquitos.

Please note that activities may change depending on the weather and which lodge you stay at. Other lodges available at request.

Reception at Iquitos airport. A tour around downtown the city to get to know the most significant landmarks, some of which are from the rubber boom (subject to arrival time).

Transfer to our private jetty to board the fast boat to Amazonas Botanical Lodge, on the way we will observe floating houses (Nov-Jul), junction of the rivers Itaya and the Natural Marvel Amazon River.

During the transfer we will note various different communities on the banks of the Amazon River, we will make a stop to start the first tour at the Paiche and caiman Farm and observe the world’s largest aquatic plant “Victoria Regia”. A short break to enjoy a refreshing coconut drink and soft drinks.

Continuing the journey through the Amazon, arriving to the lodge we will be welcomed with a local drink and you will be shown your rooms. Walk along the path of the medicinal plants knowing the cat’s claw, blood of degree, nail huasca.

After we will have lunch and relax for a bit.

3:00 p.m. we will take a walk through the jungle until we arrive at the native community of the Yaguas, where we will be shown their customs, way of life. You will have a chance to learn how to use the blowpipe or pucuna.

After, we will return to the lodge by boat, where on the way we can observe the beautiful Amazonian Sunset.

Day 83 Day Amazon Tour - Visit to artisanal trapiche – Recreational fishing

Canoe ride or morning walk according to the season, where we will watch birds in their natural habitat. After we will have breakfast.

Then we will walk through the jungle of the giant trees, getting to know the impressive Ceiba (Lupuna) and other plants.
After we will return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will have a tour on the Amazon River and visit an artisanal Trapiche. You will see a demonstration and participate in the extraction of sugarcane juice that the inhabitants use to make derivatives such as rum and molasses.

Recreational fishing on the banks of the river.

In the evening, we will do a night trip in a canoe or walk according to the season, listening to the sounds of the rainforest and watching tarantulas, insects.

After we will have dinner and rest for the evening.
Overnight in Amazon Lodge

Day 93 Day Amazon Tour - Visit to wild animals rescue center

After breakfast, we will visit a coastal villager who preserves certain animals like anacondas of water and land, sloth, turtles, parrots, toucans and others depending on the season.

After we will return to the Botanical Lodge to have lunch.

Then you will be transferred to Iquitos airport to take your flight back to Lima.
