Everything is nearly ready for Mistura 2014, the largest food fair in our country and all of Latin America! Opening its doors on Friday, September 5th, Mistura features more than 35 restaurants that will offer a specially priced “Mistura menu” with selected dishes! And like any great party in Lima, Mistura 2014 has also developed a program with various artistic activities, such as great music and dancing. This year Mistura will take place at the Costa Verde in Magdalena district, offering delicious dishes with reduced prices from some of the best restaurants in Lima. The special Mistura menu only costs 59 soles (approxiamately US$ 21) and consists of a starter, a main course and a dessert. It’s a great way to sample some of Lima’s fabulous and world-famous cuisine!
Globally acclaimed Chef Gaston Acurio’s restaurant Tanta; Flavio Solórzano’s Sulco The Manor; and Pedro Miguel Schiaffino’s Amaz, among others, have joined this culinary boom of Mistura. The “mistureras” and “ mistureros” blend a range of fresh flavors from many countries, with the best of Mediterranean and international Japanese Nikkei, Amazon, Fusion, Italian, Creole, and Chinese.
During this celebratory and colorful 10-day-long festival, Mistura will feature shows and parades for your entertainment. The Farandola, the band that plays the music of the Changing of the Guard in front of the Presidential Palace of Peru in the Plaza de Armas of Lima will be performing. Additionally, this band will share rides with seafaring, negrerías schools and military bands from around our capital city. Other musical acts include Bareto, Micky Gonzales, the National Folkloric Dance Troop, the National Children’s Choir, and Max Castro. Additionally, there will be an area for children to enjoyed called “The World of Kids” where they can play and learn about nutrition.

Critically acclaimed bars that will be offer drinks at Mistura include Huaringas Bar (Miraflores), Mayta Restaurant (Miraflores), Museo del Pisco (Cusco), Ayahuasca (Barranco), Sideways (La Molina), Spades (Barranco), Captain Melendez (Miraflores) and Wallqa (Miraflores ). The Biodiversity of Mistura
Highlighting the important connection between farmers and chefs, the heart of this year’s Mistura Apega be the Great Market, which also features a variety of Peruvian products for sale. Featured chefs will offer dishes made with flagship products for tasting, clearly recognizing the fundamental work of farmers who grow and harvest such high-quality products. Mistura seeks to emphasize the importance of bio-diversity and nutrition, as the motto of this year’s Mistura is: “Come rico, come sano, come peruano” (“Eat tasty, eat healthy, eat Peruvian). Among other invited guests, Mistura will feature a leader in the ‘Slow Food’ movement, Carlos Petrini, coming from Italy to speak at Mistura along with 50+ researchers from the University of Polenza.
This seventh edition of the main gastronomic fair of Peru and all of Latin America will delight thousands of visitors with culinary offerings from more than 200 restaurants and markets.
